The Project

This bespoke project centred on the design and construction of a custom tiny home – just 36 square metres in size. While compact in footprint, the client’s vision was for a home that was highly functional, beautifully crafted, and full of character – something that set it apart from other tiny houses.

The Process

Designing a home of this scale requires careful planning and precision. Every square metre needed to count and practicality had to be balanced with character.

Peter Dyer Builders embraced the challenge, creating a thoughtfully considered design that delivers comfortable, everyday liveability without compromising on style.

The finished home carries the charm of a miniature villa or early New Zealand cottage. A classic dormer window enhances both light and visual appeal, while a generous quila deck stretches across the entire frontage, extending the living space outdoors and adding to the home’s welcoming presence.

Inside, a cottage-style kitchen sits alongside the main living area, complemented by recessed cabinetry that maximises storage without crowding the space. Barn doors separate the bedroom, adding warmth and flexibility, while floor-to-ceiling bathroom tiles provide a sense of true luxury. Wooden modular flooring flows seamlessly throughout, bringing cohesion and texture to the interior.

What truly sets this tiny home apart is the meticulous attention to detail – a hallmark of every Peter Dyer Builders project.

The Outcome

The result is nothing short of remarkable. Clever design and refined detailing create a sense of scale that belies its 36-square-metre footprint. In photographs, it often appears much larger – and in person, it feels both intimate and indulgent.

This project demonstrates that luxury isn’t defined by size, but by craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and an uncompromising commitment to quality – something Peter Dyer Builders Ltd have a reputation for.
