The Project
View GalleryTo construct a spacious four-bedroom family home with a swimming pool and large garage on a technically challenging site which was originally swamp land.
The Process
Because of the soft, wet ground conditions, we installed deep-driven piles to create a secure and stable foundation. Anticipating a naturally damp environment, we also incorporated underfloor heating with hot-water pipes and a gas-powered open fireplace to ensure reliable warmth.
Decorative false trusses were added to create a sense of space and character. Crafted from totara and finished with steel plates, these trusses—combined with sarked ceilings—give the home a warm, timeless quality while keeping it cool in summer and cosy in winter.
The Outcome
The completed home is one the owners are thrilled with, and one Peter Dyer Builders are proud to put our name to. Inside, the totara trusses, sarked ceilings, barn-style sliding doors, and polished heated concrete floors create a welcoming country feel. Outside, a large hardwood deck offers an ideal space for summer living, complemented by a swimming pool and a generous garage with an upstairs granny flat. Double-glazed windows and the open, gas fireplace ensure year-round comfort in a home designed to perform and to last.
