Muriwai – New Build

The Project

Set against the coastal landscape of Muriwai, this architectural new build has been designed to stretch across the client’s section capturing natural light throughout the day and ensuring expansive views from every key living space.

The client’s brief called for a contemporary home that had that special something. This was achieved through a bold architectural plan delivered with seamless detailing and expert craftmanship to create a home that is beyond the ordinary.

The Process

Precision was central to this build. The interior showcases negative detailing to ceilings and walls, creating crisp shadow lines and a clean finish. Hidden doors further enhance the streamlined look allowing uninterrupted visual flow throughout the home.

Polished concrete floors provide both durability and sophistication while a curved stainless-steel soffit introduces a sculptural element, reflecting light and adding class to the house’s exterior.

Engineering the foundations presented significant challenges. The structure was required to support a four-metre-high block wall, with the swimming pool forming an integral part of the foundation system itself. The pool features an infinity edge which visually extends its waterline toward the horizon.

Inside, the craftsmanship Peter Dyer Builders is known for is evident in every detail including the installation of an exceptionally heavy marble bath, carefully positioned to ensure both structural integrity and flawless presentation.

Exterior lighting has been thoughtfully integrated to enhance the home’s architectural lines, delivering a refined and sophisticated presence after dark.

The Outcome

The completed Muriwai residence is a masterclass in contemporary coastal design. Clean lines, hidden detailing, and bold structural features combine to create a home that is both elegant and suitable for everyday family living.

This project demonstrates the value of technical expertise when partnered with architectural excellence to deliver a sophisticated, light-filled home that sits boldly within its landscape and offers its owners a truly exceptional living experience.
